Cheap but comfort old hotel

For a cheap old hotel, i found this place quite comforting! First, the location is a bit far from the city center, but just 5mins walk from Suttisan MRT. So you can expect calm silent night. The staff is Ok, the lady in the daytime shift can speak a bit English but the guy at night shift can't. But not a major problem. They gave me discount when I decided to extend! Nice! Nearby have a lot of convenience store, massage parlors and local food vendors. Have two old elevators but only one is working. The room is spacious, clean sheet and soft bed. Flat TV, Fast wifi, has sofa, refrigerator & cupboard inside. Toilet not the cleanest you can expect, just OK. Hot water and clean towels available. Self service laundry with coin available.

Bad place

The looks of the place is what you'd expect from a low-cost motel/hotel. The building is old. The reception desk is more like a counter/bar with documents and papers laying everywhere. The guy that was in charge of the reception just sat there minding his own business before I had to get his attention that I wanted to check-in. As for the process of checking me in, the guy pulls out a small tablet and asked if I could find my name and reservation, it was unprofessional, but I just let it slide. On to the room, but before we got there we had to take the elevator, which of course was not cleaned nor maintained at all. The room itself wasn't that bad. It's spacious and very well furnished, but those are pretty much the only good things. I had mentioned that the place is old, well, the room shows its age too. The bed has some weak spots and you can feel it when you are sitting down on the bed where some spots are firm and some spots you just sink down. There's a futon in the room, but it's old, moldy, and has so many holes in it. Many of the furniture are very old, you see marks and dings on everything. The air conditioner leaks, so I had to get a trash can and use it as a drip tray. The water heater didn't work at all. The shower water pressure was weak. It seems like this place would be much better if we turn the clock back to 9-10 years ago. This place is not exactly a hotel to be quite honest. It's more like an apartment for the locals to rent so they can be closer to work or school. It's not a place you'd expect many tourists to stay. It shouldn't even be considered as a hotel. You don't get the amenities like you would if you stay in a true hotel environment. This is more like here is your room and you bring everything else. You still get small soap and shampoo packets, but if you want something else they'd tell you to go get them at 7/11 nearby. I recommend to stay at other places if you can. This place is not worth your trip and money.

Not awful but not great

We booked 4 nights here and paid in advance. Upon arrival at reception, it was claimed that we had no booking and were asked to pay 1650 baht for the 4 nights. I refused as the money had already been taken from my account. After a phone call from the receptionist, they established that we did have a prepaid booking and we were taken to our room. The receptionist had limited English. The hotel lobby, elevator and corridor are nothing special and in need of a redo, but I guess for the price, one shouldn't expect luxury. Our room was clean-ish but seemed to have a massive ant problem. There was a dirty towel from a previous tenant in the wardrobe. The bed was large and comfortable and the room had a decent amount of space with a lounge chair. The air conditioning was very effective however there was no control for the temperature, so if you were cold you had to turn it off. As in many places in Southeast Asia, the shower was not good and sat right over the toilet. There was hot water but the water pressure, temperature control and shower head left much to be desired. The reception is advertised as 24hr but when we needed an extra toilet roll at 9pm at night, there was nobody to be seen anywhere. After spending time in Vietnam and Cambodia, I was a little disappointed with the room and hotel but I suppose I shouldn't be, for the price. The location is within 5-10 min walking distance to the Suttisan MRT station which takes you to Sukhumvit for the BTS (Asok) station. From here you can get to Siam. The total journey on the train costs 52 baht per person. Around the station there are all sorts of street and market stalls where you can buy fantastic cheap food. There's deep fried meats, meat skewers, noodle, spring rolls, fruit juices and crepe waffles to name a few. This was the best part of the location. There are also lots of local restaurants around that are open at various times of the day. After 9pm on a Sunday night most things are shut, but during the week appear to be open. Lots of the people here have decent English skills too. If you're coming from or going to Don Muang airport, it is quite easy to get to this hotel. The MRT line goes from Suttisan to Chatachuk Park and there are buses 29 and A1 which go to Don Muang right out the front of the MRT station. From the airport, you just walk out of the arrivals hall to where the taxis are and find the footbridge that takes you to the Amari hotel. Instead of going all the way across to the hotel, take the first set of stairs down to the right which take you onto the road outside the airport. Close to here there is a bus stop where you can catch bus 29 to Chatachuk park. When you get off, there's a BTS station (Mo Chit) and you have to cross over the road to get to the MRT station. Sounds complicated but very simple actually
